The coin is an item found throughout the Atmosfear series. Throughout the game, a player would be told to flip the coin for a reward or punishment either by the Gatekeeper on the game tape, or by one of the cards that the player may have collected while playing.
Nightmare[]
The coin was a plain white, with the "Heads" side showing a demon head and the "Tails" side showing a demon tail.
The Gatekeeper[]
While no coin appears as a physical board token in this game, the DVD game may present a coin flip minigame to the player at random intervals. This coin's "Tails" side once again was a demon's tail, while the "Heads" side depicted the Gatekeeper's head.
Khufu the Mummy[]
This coin was metallic and had a snake on one side representing "Tails" and a Sphinx head with glasses on the other representing "Heads". This coin was largely used for the table in the Queen's Chamber, but could also be used during certain betting games as well. A possible minigame also involved a "double coin toss" with two coins landing one of three ways: "Heads and Tails", "Heads and Heads" or "Tails and Tails". The player simply had to guess which pair would come up.
30th Anniversary Edition[]
The white plastic coin returns for the Anniversary rerelease of the classic game, though select Kickstarter reward backers would also receive a physical gold-colored metal coin fashioned after the same coin seen during the coin-flip minigame in the DVD version of the game. However, the "Tails" side of this coin now says "The Other Side".
